Festinos planning a family trip to Knysna for this year’s Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival will be pleased to know that there is a full programme of fun activities for young visitors. The Pick n Pay Young Oyster Festival will keep kids occupied in a safe and healthy environment for hours.

Cooking classes, creative art classes, puppet shows, balloon modelling workshops, storytelling, theatre shows, dress up parades, picnics, sand art, face painting, and interactive theatre and music workshops are just some of the many events on offer.

With the emphasis on a healthy lifestyle, the Young Oyster Festival cooking classes will educate kids about healthy eating habits and keeping the body hydrated with lots of water. This will be presented in a fun environment and incorporated into the items the children make during the classes. Each child will be supplied with an appropriate drinking bottle of water.

More adventurous kids can compete in two cycling events - kids between 2 and 12 years can register for The Spur Rotary Knysna Children's Cycle Tour, and under 14-year olds can ride with mom or dad in the Salomon Adventure Nights Capestorm Night Bike, which involves teams of two racing against the clock through the forest with just the bright beam of a Petzl headlamp and a Route Book to show the way!

Aspiring young paddlers will have the chance to compete in the Nando’s Knysna Lagoon Challenge. Choose between the 18km or 6km races, depending on your level of experience and fitness. Both races offer a great opportunity to win fabulous prizes and paddle on the beautiful Knysna Lagoon.
